Güney Kore'nin İncheon kentindeki Meditasyon Şapeli, Atelier Koma ve mimar Lee Eunsok tarafından tasarlanan, betonarme bir yapı. Şapel, Gangwha İlçesi kıyısındaki bir yamaçta, orman ve dağlarla çevrili, denize bakan bir noktada yer alıyor.


Eğime göre teraslanan yapıda, ibadet alanlarına doğrudan ulaşım sağlayan bir giriş yolu yer alıyor. Eunsok, şapelin sade formuyla "dünyadan kopuşu ve ilahi olana yönelmeyi" simgelediğini belirtiyor.


Ana ibadet alanı olan Sea Chapel'de, büyük bir yatay pencere, okyanus ve dağ manzarasını çerçeveliyor. Vitray pencereler, doğanın soyut bir yansımasını sunarken, çıplak beton duvarlara minimalist bir estetik katıyor. İkinci kattaki Closet Chapel, daha özel ibadet için tasarlanmışken, çatıdaki Sky Chapel, 360 derece panoramik manzara sunuyor. Çatıya harici bir spiral merdivenle erişim sağlanıyor.


Şapelin tasarımında hem beton yüzeylerde hem de ahşap mobilyalarda minimalist bir yaklaşım benimseniyor.

The Meditation Chapel in Incheon, South Korea, is a reinforced concrete structure designed by Atelier Koma and architect Lee Eunsok. The chapel is located on a hillside on the coast of Gangwha County, surrounded by forest and mountains, overlooking the sea.


The structure is terraced according to the slope, with an entrance way providing direct access to the worship spaces. Eunsok states that the chapel symbolises "detachment from the world and turning towards the divine" with its simple form.


In the Sea Chapel, the main worship space, a large horizontal window frames the ocean and mountain view. The stained glass windows offer an abstract reflection of nature and add a minimalist aesthetic to the exposed concrete walls. The Closet Chapel on the second floor is designed for more private worship, while the Sky Chapel on the roof offers 360-degree panoramic views. The roof is accessed by an external spiral staircase.


The design of the chapel adopts a minimalist approach to both concrete surfaces and wooden furniture.
