Japonya'daki Naoshima Adası'nda yer alan tapınak 2002'de Art House Projesi kapsamında dönüştürülüyor. Japon Mimar ve Sanatçı Hiroshi Sugimoto, Edo dönemine ait metruk haldeki ibadet salonundan yeraltındaki taş odaya inen optik bir cam merdiven tasarlıyor. Mimar 'Appropriate Proportion' adını verdiğini müdahelesinin konseptinde cennet ve yeryüzü arasındaki mistik bir bağlantıyı vurguladığını ifade ediyor.

Malzeme kullanımıyla Go'o tapınağı, eski Japon kültürünü derin bir ilişkiyle ifade edecek şekilde yeniden kullanıma açılıyor.

The striking glass staircase in the Go'o Temple designed by Hiroshi Sugimoto.

Located on Naoshima Island in Japan, the temple was transformed in 2002 as part of the Art House Project. Japanese architect and artist Hiroshi Sugimoto designed an optical glass staircase leading from the abandoned Edo period worship hall to the underground stone chamber. The architect states that the concept of his intervention, which he calls 'Appropriate Proportion', emphasises a mystical connection between heaven and earth.

Through the use of materials, the Go'o temple is reopened for use in a way that expresses a deep relationship with ancient Japanese culture.
